Community Outreach

Mrs. Kunai's students with some of the food items they collected.

Mrs. Kerry Kunai’s second grade class gave back to the community this year by collecting non-perishable food items for donation.

Each semester they gather up the items they have collected and drop them off to places such as Loaves and Fishes and Second Harvest Food Bank.

“In the beginning of the year when we studied ‘being a good citizen’, my students wanted to help others. As a class they decided that collecting non-perishable food items would be their way of helping out,” says Mrs. Kunai.

“Everyone has extras in their pantry that they can donate,” says Charlie Melchor.

“It makes me feel like a good helper,” says Yessi Morales.

This year Mrs. Kunai’s class was able to collect over 200 cans and many other non-perishable items for donation.
