Read for the Record

State Board of Education member, John Tate, III reads to a kindergarten class.

Poplin Elementary kindergarten students join over one million other students across America in Read for the Record to set a new world record for reading the same book at the same time. Four special guests joined our kindergarten students and read The Very Hungry Caterpillar to the kindergarten students to mark the world record. Our special guests were Dr. Ed Davis, the superintendent for UCPS, Mr. John Tate, III, a member of the North Carolina State Board of Education, Mrs. Lori Cauthen, UCPS Director of Elementary Education, and Mrs. Jessica Garner, North Carolina's Teacher of the Year. Students welcomed the guests and all participants had a great time sharing a beloved and quality book.
