DAR Donates Flag to Poplin

Barbara Moore of the John Foster Chapter of the DAR presents the Amercian Flag and Certificate of the United States Capitol to Stephanie McManus at the recent PTA meeting. Mrs. McManus accepted the flag on behalf of all the students at Poplin and the Poplin Elementary School community.

At the December Poplin Elementary PTA general meeting, the Monroe John Foster Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution presented Poplin Elementary School with an American Flag which flew over the Nation's Capitol Building on September 25, 2009, on Poplin's behalf.

The DAR is a non-profit, non-political volunteer women's organization dedicated to promoting patriotism, preserving American history, and securing America's future through better education for children. Each year, the DAR awards scholarships, supports school programs, and supports active and veteran service men and women nationwide. Poplin Elementary School will display this flag as well as the certificate of honor in our school's media center so that it may be preserved and enjoyed by all students within the Poplin Elementary School community.
