Solids, liquids and gasses
Mrs. Hardman's second grade class has recently completed a unit in science called Changes. The students learned about Matter. Matter is a solid, liquid, or gas. They completed many fun experiments to see how Matter changes from one state to another. The students had the most fun making their own silly putty. Some of their explorations included putting alka seltzer into water to create a gas. Also, they learned that heat is what changes Matter from one state to another; either heat is added or heat is taken away. The students learned about how the atoms are arranged in each state of Matter and completed a project using Cheerios to demonstrate this arrangement. Matter is everywhere.
