Cavs Lend a Hand to Habitat for Humanity

Members of the CHS Beta Club including Gabrielle Spinella, Dominic Cianciosa, both freshmen, and Angela Perez, sophomore, help out with homes being built for the Marshville Habitat for Humanity.

Members of the CHS Beta Club participated in the building of Habitat for Humanity homes in Marshville May 7, 2011. Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization that builds homes for lower-income families. Eighteen students and five adults, including teachers Ms. Sarah Keziah and Ms. Joyce Durham, helped with various jobs around three houses. Jobs consisted of cleaning up debris around the houses, preparing the rooms for flooring, and the actual erecting of the walls of the newest house.

“I had fun helping with the flooring and helping clean up so that we could help people in need,” said sophomore Riley Sloop. “It felt good to help someone who needed a home,” agreed sophomore Tyler Spelane. Other Beta Club members in attendance were Samantha Carroll, Katie Brock, Sara Cole, Mallory Williamson, Melanie Smith, Andrea Kopaskie, Kimberly Perez, Angela Perez, Eliza Schnappinger, Dylan Harper, Staci Renda, Natalie Wilkinson, Kalli Karas, Gabrielle Spinella, Dominic Cianciosa, and Morgan Githmark.
