Second Annual Spring Fling Held

Leisha Wyman, Renee Wallace, and Kelsie Dwyer, all freshmen, enjoy looking through the new CHS yearbook themed "Strive" at the second annual Spring Fling.

Cavaliers celebrated their second annual "Spring Fling" complete with games, inflatables, music, refreshments, a Kiss the Pig contest, and the long-awaited distribution of the school yearbook, The Conquest, on May 27, 2011. This year's edition was entitled "Strive."

The event, sponsored the Student Council, was originally planned to be held on the football field, but was held inside due to the possibility of stormy weather. Student Council adviser Mrs. Kim Wren, said, "The students seemed to adjust well to the change indoors. I think they enjoyed being able to mingle with friends and get yearbooks signed; but mainly just enjoyed being out of class."

A pep rally in the gym kicked off Spring Fling during which winter and spring sports were recognized. Next the students were treated to seeing the results of the Kiss the Pig contest. The Drama Club sponsored the contest throughout the previous week inviting students to vote for the male and female staff members they wanted to see kiss a pig. Mr. Matt Carr, social studies teacher, and Assistant Principal Kim Warr were the lucky winners! Students were then invited to go explore the many activities and pick up and enjoy their new yearbooks.

The money earned from Spring Fling will go towards a school beautification project. "The Student Council looks forward to providing this event and have already begun planning a huge Spring Fling for next year," said Mrs. Wren.
