Jordan Gross Visits Marvin Students

Principal Jay Jones, Olivia Jones, PTA President Karen Murphy, Ian Jones, CFF representative Gwyn MacMorris , and Charlotte Panther Jordan Gross, celebrate Marvin Elementary’s donation of over $9000 to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

The children at Marvin Elementary School were greeted by a larger-than-life presence Wednesday afternoon.

Jordan Gross, Charlotte Panther and Pro Bowl offensive lineman and winner of the Ed Block Courage Award, visited the school with representatives from the Charlotte office of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to recognize Marvin Elementary School’s donation of over $9000, the highest contribution from the Charlotte metro region in the history of the office.

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation funds research for treatment and a cure for Cystic Fibrosis, and is a cause dear to the heart of Marvin Elementary School, as Principal Jay Jones’ daughter Olivia put a face on the disease for the faculty and student body.

Gross acknowledged the accomplishment of the students in raising such a sum in a week, explained his partnership with the organization after the birth of his niece who was diagnosed with CF, explained how his hard work, listening to his mentors, and focus on what needed to be done helped him reach his dream of playing in the NFL.  School principal, Dr. Jay Jones, emphasized Gross’s work ethic, community engagement and character as well.

In response to a student’s question regarding his most proud moment in NFL football, Gross indicated that it is yet to come, as he anticipates a Super Bowl win in the franchise future.  Marvin Elementary School will be cheering him on.
