Catawba Valley Community College will get one of Forest Hills High School's outstanding athletes next school year. Kinya Adams, a graduating senior at FHHS, signed on to play for the Hickory-based school on Thursday morning. The Catawba Valley coach Tommy Edwards was there at the table, as were Kinya's mother, Wanda Thomas, and sister, Taria Thomas.

"Coach (Eddie) Rivers wanted me to take a look at Kinya, so she did a workout with us, and we liked what we saw," said Edwards.  "We were definitely wanting some post players."

Kinya is anxious about leaving home, but the 5-11 Yellow Jacket standout said playing college basketball has always been her dream. "And hopefully I'll get some playing time..."

The Catawba Valley Community College was established in 1958, but is only in its second season for its athletic programs like basketball and baseball.
