Red Warrior released by Beta Club

Carly Orlando and Red Warrior

The Weddington Beta Club, along with the Carolina Raptor Center, released "Red Warrior", a rehabilited female red-tailed hawk back into the wild. She was released in the woods behind the high school. About 50 students and staff gathered to watch the release of Red Warrior. She was injured and then rehabilitated for about 5 months at the Raptor Center before being released. About 700 injured birds of prey are brought to the Raptor Center each year, but only 75% can be released into the wild. Kristy Bunce, Beta Club advisor, has heard reports that Red Warrior is still being spotted in the Weddington area.
