Another "Conquest" Underway!

Senior and Yearbook Class member Hannah Hewling adjusts her camera setting with the help of Matt Blackston, Lifetouch Photographer, who visited the Yearbook Class September 8.

The 2011-2012 CHS Yearbook, "The Conquest" is already in the works and up for sale! Yearbooks may be purchased at www.jostensyearbooks.com and until September 16 are at the lowest prices of the year: $60.00. Senior Ads may also be purchased in various amounts. Senior Ads are special tributes to the Class of 2012 from family or friends congratulating them and wishing them future success. Students are always delighted to receive their yearbooks in June and find their tributes! The lowest prices for Senior Ads are available now through October 2. More information can found on our website and will also be sent home during the week of September 12. Ads may be purchased online or through any member of the Yearbook Class.

The Yearbook Class was excited to host guest speaker and professional photographer, Matt Blackston, on September 8. Blackston is the Photography Manager for the Charlotte office of Lifetouch National School Studios. A graduate of Winthrop College, he has been with Lifetouch for seven years.

In 1958, his grandfather started a photography studio. "I grew up in photography," Blackston shared. He explained the many camera settings and how they can contribute to taking better pictures in various situations such as at football games, in the gym, or in the auditorium. He showed the class how to adjust the white balance in order to get the best coloring in each shot. The student took notes and adjusted their own cameras as Blackston explained.

"We appreciated Mr. Blackston's time and expertise," said Ms. White, Yearbook Adviser. "I think the students definitely took note of his advice and will use it to take some great pictures!" Any questions about yearbook sales, photos, senior ads, or business ads may be directed to Ms. White.
