On Wednesday, September 7, 2011 , ScienceReach educator Maggie Winkowski presented a program for the students about Simple Machines. She provided them with hands on activities that demonstrated the work of machines such as levers and pulleys.

The next Friday, educator Jeff Bassett came to East Elementary and presented a program to students about Weather. The students were captivated when he used liquid nitrogen to make a cloud!

Fifth grader Desnee Bryant stated,” The weather program was so cool. My favorite thing was when we did an experiment about measuring humidity. We had a beaker with water and a special ball inside and we took it outside, twirled it around, and felt water drip on our heads.”

Students were able to experience the ScienceReach programs thanks to sponsorship by the CEM Corporation of Matthews N.C..
