It's BBQ Time!

Everyone at Piedmont is working hard preparing for the 25th annual fall BBQ. Students are selling BBQ tickets, slaw and sauce are being made, and the BBQ cooking crew is preparing for the big event on Friday, October 14. Tickets are $7 each and can be purchased from any Piedmont student or by calling 704-753-2810. Corporate delivery is available for orders of 10 or more.
The 2011 fall BBQ will be a special event this year as Piedmont marks the 25th anniversary of this community fundraiser. Former administrators and special guests will be invited to join Piedmont students and staff on October 14 for a feast of BBQ, slaw, chips, and cake! Students who sell six BBQ tickets are being entered into drawings to win prizes, while every student who sells their six tickets earn a free 4th block on Tuesday, November 22. In addition to ticket sales, students are also being asked to donate cakes. Cakes should be brought to the new gym lobby on Thursday, October 13. Please pay careful attention to the guidelines for cakes: unopened, store bought, round crÃ¨me cakes with a good expiration date and light icing are the only cakes that will be accepted. Students will earn a ticket to an upcoming student vs. faculty volleyball game for donating acceptable cakes.

According to students Sara Carson and Idus Daniel, â€œMaking slaw was a â€˜stickyâ€™ situation, not only because of the brown sugar and vinegar, but because of the precise measurements that were required. We didnâ€™t think that the slaw making process would be so complicated but it actually requires a sense of direction and adherence to health guidelines.â€
Proceeds from last year's BBQ were used to buy new technology for teacher classrooms and will once again be used to equip teachers with 21st century technologies this year. Parents who wish to volunteer on BBQ day are asked to contact Dr. Ann Walters at 704-753-2810.
