Donuts For Freshman Dads
Early morning juice, donuts and the first six weeks report card! That's how Wednesday, October 12, 2011 started for several freshmen at Parkwood. The students and their dads gathered before school in the cafeteria to spend a little time together as they received their first high school report card. This is the third year that Parkwood has held "Donuts For Freshman Dads" where all fathers who have freshmen are invited to come in and get that first high school report card.
Kenton King, whose son, Carson King, is a freshman this year said, "This was a nice event, combining the first report card with 'Donuts For Dads.' I really appreciate how open and upfront Ms. Hollis is. It's nice and refreshing." At the breakfast, Ms. Hollis encouraged the dads to contact her at home any time they felt the need. She mentioned that it is always her policy to be available to Parkwood's parents.
As students sat with their dads enjoying a casual breakfast, Ms. Hollis and two assistant principals, Mr. Gray and Mr. Horne, circluated greeting parents and discussing report cards. Freshman Joshua Beekman commented, "It was hard getting up so early, but it was nice to be here with my dad to receive my report card."
