FHHS Business Students Attend Global Business Luncheon

Forest Hills business students at the World Affairs Council of Charlotte Luncheon

September 28th, 2011, FHHS Business students had the opportunity to attend the World Affairs Council of Charlotte Luncheon.  These students witnessed a presentation from Chairman, President & CEO of SPX Corporation Christopher J. Kearney.  Kearney discussed his company's impact on the local and global community.

As a regional center for education and discussion of world affairs, the Council seeks to provide leadership for global thinking, believing that a broad perspective is necessary for effective competition in the global economy and for responsible citizenship in the increasingly interdependent political world.

Mr. Adrien Porter, the students' business teacher, is an advocate for career and technical education and stresses the importance of the program and its links to other curriculum and the importance of a globally aware education.  When asked about the event, Porter stated, "The icing on the cake was when Mr. Kearney talked about the importance of high school students taking and doing well in Science and Math courses. This goes right along with our Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) Program at Forest Hills."

The luncheon took place at the Westin Hotel in Charlotte, NC.
