Shiloh Elementary Hosts Hispanic Family Night

Parent's listen to presentation during Hispanic Family Night

After an examination of the drastically increasing number of Spanish speaking families and their desire to close the reading achievement gap between Hispanic and White students, Shiloh Elementary hosted its first Hispanic Family Night. Throughout the evening, families had the opportunity to enjoy a pizza dinner, ask questions, and discuss reading and writing strategies with Shiloh’s Spanish teacher, Patty Medina.

At the conclusion of the event, Michael Henderson, principal of Shiloh Elementary, reflected on the evening and stated, “ I feel this was a huge step in the right direction. The parents are eager to help their children succeed, and, we were able to provide them with some strategies and resources needed in order to do that.”
