Team USA-Stallings for Family Reading Olympics

On Wednesday, March 10, 2010, kindergarten through 5th grade students and their families had the opportunity to listen to guest reader, Paul Wylie. Mr. Wylie is the 1992 Olympic Figure Skating Silver Medalist. He also participated in the 1993 World Professional Figure Skating Championships and was a performer for the Stars on Ice from 1992-1998.

During the evening, students rotated through Olympic reading events to focus on nonfiction skills related to the book, played reading games, and made a dessert based on the theme of the book.  Chick-fil-a, fruit and drinks were served for dinner.  During the closing ceremonies students were presented with a medal Olympic style!

All of the events were planned to encourage families to read together and to promote the love of reading. Brooke Kramb, Literacy Facilitator, was the organizer of this event.

Stallings' Family Literacy Night was generously sponsored by Target.
