New York Times best-selling author Carole Boston Weatherford will visit Rocky River Elementary School on Friday, February 26, to conduct an authors visit.  Ms. Weatherford has been writing since first grade when she recited an original poem to her mother and has since authored 32 books, celebrating family stories, fading traditions and forgotten struggles. Her books have won the Caldecott Honor, the Coretta Scott King Award for Illustration, the Carter G. Woodson Award from National Council for the Social Studies, the NAACP Image Award and two North Carolina Juvenile Literature Awards.  Her best-known titles include Moses:When Harriet Tubman Led Her People to Freedom, Freedom on the Menu:The Greensboro Sit-Ins and Remember the Bridge: Poems of a People.  Her latest releases are Becoming Billie Holiday, The Library Ghost and I, Matthew Henson.  Ms. Weatherford is an associate professor at Fayetteville State University in North Carolina.


If you would like to pre-order a book for your child to be autographed by Mrs. Weatherford on the day of her visit, please complete an order form sent home last week and send payment with your child to the media center.  The prices listed are the total cost of the books, which includes sales tax.
