One Country At A Time

The International Club at Parkwood began two years ago to increase the interest of students in other countries around the world. The faculty sponsors are Mrs. Patterson, Mrs. Dewitt, and Mr. Giudice. The club meets once a month after school in room 806 to enjoy snacks from other countries and learn about those countries as well. The club wants students to be able to embrace different cultures and say, “Well that’s interesting,” according to Mrs. Dewitt. The club also organizes and sponsors trips to other countries. Last year Mrs. Patterson arranged an educational trip to France and Italy with some students from Parkwood and also some students from other high schools. The trip was a success and she plans to sponsor another one this summer to England, Scotland, and other surrounding countries. The International Club also has guest speakers come to their meetings occasionally and talk about the country the club is learning about at that meeting. On Monday, March 8th they are having Parkwood’s very own Mr. Giudice talk about Panama. Anyone is welcome to come and listen!
