“I give credit to the outstanding teachers and teacher assistants that I get to work with everyday,” Norris said. “They give me strength, encouragement and respect, teach me new strategies and hold me to high expectations. I am proud to call Marvin my home.”

Patterson added her congratulations, noting the honor Norris brought to her school and the district. ¬Patterson wished Norris the best of luck at the next level of competition.

Norris will travel to Greensboro next week to compete for the NCATA Teacher Assistant of the Year state title.

Hired as a teacher assistant in 1999, Norris worked at Weddington Elementary until accepting a position at her current school, Marvin Elementary, where she has worked for eight years. She has been a member of NCATA for 11 years, five of which she had held office.
