3rd Grade Art Students Create Oaxacan Animal Projects

Mrs. Hill, one of Union's art teachers, worked with 3rd grade students to create representations of woodcarvings that were originally made by the Zapotec Indians from Oaxaca, Mexico. Students created unity in their designs by repeating colors, shapes and patterns. This folk tradition has been passed down through hundreds of families of woodcarvers in the Oaxaca Valley.
