Mrs. Andrews Receives Generous Gift from PTA

Mrs. Andrews with her Bass Xylophone that was donated through the MRES PTA.

Mrs. Andrews would like to thank our amazing Marvin PTA for the recent purchase of new Orff mallet instruments for the music classroom! The set, which includes a deep bass xylophone, 4 soprano/alto xylophones, and 2 glockenspeils, will expand our classroom Orff mallet ensemble to 14. These instruments are of exceptional quality, are built in Germany, and will be used for many years to come. Each child at Marvin will benefit from these wonderful pitched-percussion instruments, and they will use them to explore music literacy, accompaniment, texture, improvisation, form and melody. These instruments enable students to be active participants in the music-making process, offering them a wider range of pitch and rhythm possibilities than the voice alone. The Orff-Schulwerk process of music instruction is based on the philosophy that students "learn by doing", and they will now have more opportunities to create during weekly music classes! A special thank you to Mrs. Karen Murphy and the entire PTA board for such generous support of the music program. Sincere appreciation and thanks to all the Marvin families who support our PTA, thereby making things like this possible for our wonderful children!
