Student Council members elected to State Board

Student council representatives and their sponsors gather for a photo before dinner.

Nine MRMS student council members attended the North Carolina Association of Student Council's state convention in Asheboro. Two of the attendees, Danny Canale and Kayla Thompson, ran for positions on the state board. Their creative and inspiring campaigns helped them both win their NCASC elections. Danny earned a place as Second Vice President and Kayla won a seat as the Western District Vice Chair. With these positions comes the responsibility to represent middle schools at the State Board meetings and plan a September leadership workshop.

Two other students attending the conference taught a workshop centered on how to plan effective Student Council meetings. Not all of their three days in Ashboro were centered on work though. They also took time out to visit the zoo and other sites of local interest and returned to MRMS with lots of enthusiasm and ideas for our Student Council.
