A Year Full of Drama
The Parkwood High School Drama Department has been very busy this year. They recently wrapped up an engaging and emotional performance of The Miracle Worker which they had been rehearsing since December. The lead character in The Miracle Worker is Helen Keller, who was played by both junior, Ashley Lucas, and senior, Abby Hudlow. These leads got a chance to show their talent every other night. “They both did an outstanding job being deaf and blind,†said Mr. Pat Antonucci, Parkwood’s Drama teacher. Senior, Maiah Redelfs played the part of Annie Sullivan, Helen Keller‘s teacher. When asked while working on The Miracle Worker, how long a play takes to produce, Mr. Antonucci responded, “The more time you put in, the better it will be.â€
Last semester they did an original script called Forever Young about how people deal with a midlife crisis (getting older). The Drama Department also did an annual production of one act plays called Bits 'n' Pieces. This year that included The Tree and Arctic Library, both by Bradley Walton, and 13 Ways to Screw Up a College Interview, by Ian McWethy. Their last show will be Harvey by Mary Chase which will open in May.
