Odes to Spring!
Mrs. Casey Zvanut's Creative Writing class got a head start on spring break as they took their class outside to write odes to spring! The Merriam Webster Dictionary defines an ode as a lyric poem usually marked by exaltation of feeling and style, varying length of line, and complexity of stanza forms. Mrs. Zvanut notes that the ode is a poetic style going all the way back to the ancient Greeks, who would honor athletes with poetry. Enjoying the beautiful weather and inspired by the inviting wooded area of our campus, students tried their hands at the art form writing romantic odes to nature. Pictured are junior Delante Ennals and freshmen Erika Wiley and Alexa White.
