SNA Certification/Credentialing

The Union County Public Schools Child Nutrition Program is proud to have 46 professionally certified employees and one credentialed employee. What does this mean? It means that these individuals have worked with the School Nutrition Association (SNA) to meet their high standards in school food-service and nutrition programs. The SNA provides educational opportunities to ensure professional development.

There are two levels of professional development. One of the current programs offers three levels of certification with appropriate standards for academic education, specialized training, work experience, and continuing education. The second level is credentialing with the title of School Nutrition Specialist. To obtain this title a school nutrition applicant must demonstrate the highest proficiency in the profession. In order to earn this credential, applicants must qualify for and pass a national exam.
