Cavaliers Attend National FFA Convention
The Cuthbertson FFA Chapter made its first ever trip to the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana, October 18-21, 2011. Five members attended the convention, including Windsor Cox, Victoria Haidar, Tugce Yagli, Andrew Sileo, and Brittany Lowe, along with advisor Mr. Ben Shumate. The Cuthbertson FFA traveled to Indianapolis with other FFA chapters around the county to experience a week of leadership and career building activities.
At the convention, members had an opportunity to meet other FFA members across the United States and to see how the FFA operates at the national level. Students attended sessions led by the National FFA officers, which focused on ideas to improve our local chapter as well as inspiration for personal growth. Students also had an opportunity to attend the “National FFA Career Show†which was hosted by major agricultural businesses and colleges across the country.
The members who attended had the privilege to gain information about these businesses and colleges to help them decide what career path they may take after graduation. Members who attended had an awesome time and are eager to attend next year’s National Convention so they may bring more ideas to continue building a great FFA chapter at Cuthbertson High School.
The FFA mission statement/goal is: To make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education. If you are interested in joining the FFA or would like more information, please speak to the club advisor Mr. Shumate in room A120 or any club member. This year’s officers are President - Morgan Ries; Vice President - Katie Kamin; Student Advisor - Christine Miner; Secretary - Samantha Baker; Treasurer - Andrew Sileo; Reporter - Raquel Petrizzo; and Sentinel - Windsor Cox. This year promises to be an awesome year for the Cuthbertson FFA!
