Second Graders Learn About Sound
Students in Mrs. Kelly Hays’ second grade class studied ‘sound’ with their student teacher, Ms. Michelle Pollman. After selecting the instrument that they wanted to create, each student designed and built their own instrument.
Many of the students used recycled materials to build their instruments. One of the students even used a carrot for her instrument. After completing their assignment, the students demonstrated how their instruments worked. The second graders then shared their new instruments with Ms. Nikki Turner’s first grade class. They explained how they could change the pitch of their instruments and described how the sound vibrates through the instruments. Their projects were then put on display in the Media Center for other students to enjoy!
