Marvin Ridge Mavericks recognized as team of the week

The Marvin Ridge Middle School sixth grade football team was recognized as Team of the Week on the Carolina Panthers website and was acknowledged on October 30 during the half time of the Carolina Panthers vs. the Minnesota Vikings game.

"The Carolina Panthers are thrilled to recognize both kids and youth athletic associations that make participating in youth league sports one of the great experiences of childhood," said Riley Fields, the Carolina Panthers director of community relations.  This team deserves to be recognized for their excellent record. Led by Coach Steve Canale, the Marvin Ridge Mavericks finished the season with a 10-0 record and conference and Tournament of Champions wins.

The Mavericks had great team chemistry and always seemed eager to learn and improve their game skills.  "Everyone contributed and worked hard this season," said Coach Steve Canale. Week after week they succeeded in defeating every team in the conference.  Not only are they good players but what made this team special was their great chemistry and ability to work together.  "Our sixth grade Mavericks football team was made up of good students and respectful young men on and off the field," said MRMS parent Joelle Reinhart.
