Would You Like to Super-Size That?
Parkwood Middle art students have been working on Paper Mache this fall; but they have super-sized it! The class looked at the art of Dave Rogers as their inspiration. He constructs huge bugs and other objects with wood and metal.
We made ours with paper and glue on a large scale. Our insects and various animals range from 4 to 7 feet in length and are on display outdoors in the courtyard in their “natural habitat†surrounded by trees, bushes and flowers.
The 7th and 8th grade students have worked in teams to plan, sketch and build bugs together led by their art teacher, Diane Howie. The project was a big under taking but the expectation were high and the students delivered. They did a great job and the oversized insects have been enjoyed by all.
