Catawba Cultural Preservation Project Visits Rea View
The fifth grade students had the opportunity to listen to the members from the Catawba Cultural Preservation Project of Rock Hill on Tuesday, November 15th, as part of their Social Studies unit on Native Americans.
The 45 minute presentation focused on the history, heritage, and culture of the tribe that dates back to the mid-sixteenth century. The students were also treated to a drumming and dancing exhibition including The Rattle Snake Dance, Women's Honor Dance, and the Hunters' Dance. It was a great learning experience for the students.
