Looking Forward to Mondays
Each Monday afternoon the children at Rea View Elementary After School Program look forward to Marvin Ridge High School students visiting for one hour. The high school students are members of a club called the "CCC" Community Service Projects in the International Baccalaureate Program. The high school students play soccer and basketball, make crafts, help the children with reading and teach them new games during their visits. Each high school student is responsible for a grade level group of children, develops new activities each week for the group and is responsible for presenting the activities to the group in an age-appropriate manner. Most importantly, the high school students talk to the elementary students about sportsmanship, teamwork and positive attitudes. They are excellent role models for the younger children, and we appreciate that they take the time to share their talents with our program.
The Marvin Ridge students involved with this project are: Geraldine Abinader, Chairperson; Alexa Bummel, Savannah Billingham, Teresa Cal, Grant Cook, David Florian, Carson Mackey, and Katerine Zimmerman.
