Mario Donato named FHHS Teacher of the Year

FHHS 2011-12 Teacher of the Year Mario Donato

Mario Donato, National Board Certified business teacher and varsity football defensive coordinator, was elected Teacher of the Year for the 2011-2012 school year by his peers at Forest Hills High School. After receiving the CTE “Unsung Hero” award in 2010, Mario was a clear choice for teacher of the year.

Mario’s humor and presence in a classroom make him an inspiring teacher. A senior at Forest Hills stated, “Mr. Donato makes business class fun…I am glad he’s a teacher at FHHS.” His football players also enjoy his passion and dedication to their success on and off the field.

Mario played football for Indian Land High School in South Carolina before attending Liberty University and Lenoir-Rhyne University. Mario played football for 5 years in college while a finance and economics major. Since college, Mario has coached football overseas and also in the semi-pro circuit. Mario was recently mentioned in the 2010 book Do They Play Football in Heaven? written by his high school football coach Mike Pope.

Mr. Donato found his home at Forest Hills in 2005 and has become an integral part of the FHHS family. He is an advisor of the school’s FBLA organization and the referee for the annual FCA dodge ball tournament. We at Forest Hills are honored to have him on our staff.
