The cast of Arsenic and Old Lace

A couple of sweet old ladies, an engagement and a murderous brother in Brooklyn in 1941. What do you have? A fun evening of chasing the bad guys and keeping your aunts out of jail! Arsenic and Old Lace by Joseph Kesselring is a dark comedy written when America was on the brink of entering WWII and Americans were looking for some good entertainment. It ran on Broadway for several years and was made into a major motion picture. It is to this day still the most produced play in high school and community theatres around the U.S. 

Drew Goins ( Senior) plays the leading man as Mortimer Brewster who lives near his aunts Martha (Brooke Stemple,Senior) and Abby Brewster. ( Emma Gutt , Senior). THey live a lovely life until Mortimer's evil brother Jonathan ( CArson Rich , Senior) shows up with a dead body . Unbeknownst to Mortimer or Jonathan , the sisters also have several dead bodies in the house and got them by killing the victims with Arsenic. Mortimer than realizes he has to convince the police ( Savannah Zook , Freshman , Kevin Reid , Junior and Lucy Hansen , Freshman) and Lt. Rooney ( Brittany Fairchild, junior) that is is Jonathan that has been collecting the bodies, not his sweet old aunts. Meanwhile, he is trying to get his other brother Teddy ( Teylor Jenkins , Senior) committed to a sanitariom since he has believed for years he is a actually Teddy Roosevelt and on top of this , trying to keep his new fiancee Elaine ( Abby Schrader , Sophomore) from finding out they are all crazy. It is truly a fun evening filled with adventure , romance and murder!
