Schools Join to Support Samaritan's Feet
Cuthbertson Cavaliers and Weddington Warriors will join forces at CHS on Friday, December 2, in a basketball game planned to support Samaritan’s Feet. Samaritan’s Feet is a non-profit humanitarian aid organization whose goal is to provide children of impoverished nations with shoes. According to its website, www.samaritansfeet.org, the goal of Samaritan’s Feet is the ‘reality of nearly 3,000,000 impoverished children in over 40 nations being served by having their feet washed, receiving a new pair of shoes, and hearing a message of hope.’ The coaches from both schools will be coaching barefoot to raise awareness of the millions of children around the world without shoes. Our goal is to raise $1000 to provide 100 children with their first pair of shoes.
According to Basketball Coach Michael Helms, the barefoot games were started by a college coach and the idea filtered to high school coaches. “We asked Weddington to participate and they jumped at the chance,†he said. “We just want to help bring awareness to the millions of kids in our world who have never owned a pair of shoes. Most of us have an embarrassing amount of shoes in our closet. Let's reach out and help those who are in need!"
Please consider coming out to the game. The girls game begins at 6:30 and the boys game begins at 8:00. Tickets are $5. You may also consider clicking on the following link to make a donation to a great cause! https://www.firstgiving.com/fundraiser/cuthbertson/barefoot
