CATA Wins State Play Festival

The cast of the play For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow Is Enuf performed at the State Play Festival at Greensboro College on November 17th. The cast earned the following awards: Excellence in Overall Production Design; Excellence in Acting award was given to Dayna Hodge Lynch; Outstanding Achievement in Acting was given to Nkeki Obi-Melekwe; Ms. Morgan and Mr. Robinson won the John Parker Award for Directing; and the show was named the winner of the play festival and advances to the Southeastern Theatre Festival in March of 2012. 

In addition, the show earned another distinction - in the 37 years of the history of the festival, this is the first time that a show, performing first in the festival schedule, has won the best show award at the festival. A total of sixteen plays were performed on Thursday and Friday as a part of the festival. Congratulations to the cast and everyone involved in the show!
