Students at Parkwood Middle Give Back to their Community!

Ms. Swiger's 7th graders with their angel tree gifts.

Miss Swiger’s 7th grade homeroom embraced the holiday spirit this winter through their school’s Angel Tree. Anonymous names of Parkwood students are placed on the tree every year to help families at this magical time of year. This is the second year that a homeroom of Miss Swiger’s has chosen to participate in this gracious cause.

These ambitious 7th grade students volunteered to be a part of this year’s Angel Tree and in doing so they selected 2 Angels from the tree. Each day an envelope was placed at the front of the room to collect donations and after several weeks the total was announced! A total of $298.00 was raised by this year’s homeroom!

To protect the anonymity of the recipients of these gifts, the gifts were purchased and pre-wrapped by their teacher. The students then wrapped the gifts in holiday paper during class on Thursday to involve them in the process from start to finish.

This experience has had a memorable impact on all involved and has shed light on the tremendous character of these students!
