Piedmont Partners with Girl Scouts

Eighth grade girls prepare a thank you card to send to Michelle Anderson of the Hornets’ Nest Girl Scouts Council.

Piedmont Middle School recently partnered with the Hornets’ Nest Girl Scouts Council (HNGSC) in providing an exciting four week program for approximately twenty-five of our 7th and 8th grade girls. The focus was to help our girls achieve success through the Uniquely Me! Workshop. This four week program provides an environment that helps enhance our girls’ self-esteem, encourages girls to be the best they can be, promotes safety and wisdom, and challenges our girls to build positive character traits and much more – all while having fun! Sessions for sixth grade girls are scheduled to begin in January.
Some of the exercises, led by Michelle Anderson (Outreach Team Lead of HNGSC) included “Recognizing one’s strengths and best attributes, handling peer pressure, peer relationships and stress.” Through the Uniquely Me! Program girls discover that true beauty blooms from the inside out. If you would like to read more about the program, the website is: www.girlscouts.org/program/gs_central/leadership/uniquelyme.asp
