Third Grade Studies Brazil

The pictured interactive bulletin board represents the Brazilian flag in the background with interesting facts discovered by students during their research project.

Each grade level at New Salem Elementary has “adopted” a specific country to study this year. New Salem third graders have been focusing on the country of Brazil. Recently, student pairs have been working on a power point presentation to present to their social studies class. The areas they were asked to focus on were Brazilian money, animals, weather, games, food and Brazil’s location.
Here are some of the comments students shared when asked “What was the most interesting thing you learned about Brazil?”
“The best thing I learned about Brazil is that the anaconda can weigh up to 550 pounds.” Wyatt
“The most interesting thing I learned was soccer is called futball in Brazil.” Cody
“The most interesting thing I’ve learned about Brazil is a city in Brazil, Urubici has more snow days than we do.” Caitlin
“The most interesting thing I’ve learned is there are spider monkey’s in Brazil.” Ashlynn
“The most important thing I learned is Sao Paulo is the largest city in Brazil.” Morgan
