Rocky River Recycles!

In honor of Earth Day, Rocky River Elementary School held it's first ever recycling competition. Students were asked to reuse a 2-liter soda bottle and create something entirely different with it. The talent of our Roadrunners is amazing and submissions ranged from, a lighthouse, butterflies, race cars, people, birdhouses, candle holders, and animals. A variety of materials were used for these creations, such as, paint, paper, foam and felt shapes, yarn, bird seeds, pipe cleaners, and flowers.

Students were able to vote on their favorite two bottles over a two week period. Votes were counted and the winners are:

Third Place is a race car made by Benjamin Laws in Mrs. Kinyanjui's class.
Second Place is a flower pot made by Yhanelly Galeana in Mrs. McNeills class
First Place is the Good Year Blimp courtesy of Nate St. Bernard in Ms. Tyson's class

Winners went home with a kite made from Skittles candy wrappers, a notebook and a folder, all of which were made out of recycled material. Congratulations!
