EUMS Students Compete at Shakespeare Festival

On February 28th, 19 students from East Union Middle School competed in the 29th Annual Shakespeare Competition at Wingate University.  The students prepared to recite and perform a monologue and a sonnet written by William Shakespeare. The students each competed in a preliminary round of 8 students each and were scored by a panel of judges. Each group selected one winner to advance to the finals held in front of an audience of 250 people and a panel of judges. Amina Faye, an 8th grade student, represented East Union as a finalist (among 28 in the final round). She performed a monologue from As You Like It and Sonnet #29. The students represented East Union well and had a great experience in their first competition.
