March Madness Hits Hemby Bridge

Character driven March Madness is hitting Hemby Bridge Elementary for the third year in a row! Throughout the month of March, all staff members, including custodians, cafeteria staff and bus drivers will be handing out March Madness “Tickets” to students caught doing something good! Students could be following directions, helping a friend, doing a good deed, holding a door open for a teacher, or any other GOOD reason a staff member decides they deserve to receive a ticket!

Each staff member has ten tickets to be given out weekly for five weeks and each Wednesday in March, 10 names will be drawn to receive a free HBES Spirit Wear shirt from the HBES PTO. At the end of the month, additional spirit prizes will be distributed to tickets randomly drawn as well. Students work hard to receive a “ticket” and take pride in placing their ticket in the March Madness box.

The PTO has decorated a bulletin board near the front school entrance which displays all of the ACC universities and other staff-loved colleges as well as many other Charlotte area and North Carolina colleges. Our goal is to introduce students to the many college choices there are in the NC area and beyond! It’s never too early to plant those seeds! Remember, good character is what you do when no one is watching!

“All kids need is a little help, a little hope and somebody who believes in them.” -Magic Johnson, Former NBA Player
