Pucks for Panama
The WHS International club promotes the acceptance and knowledge of different countries and cultures. This year the club’s main focus is to raise money for the Bocas School Project. The Bocas School project supports four schools in the Bocas area in Panama. The schools in this area lack running water, electricity, and sanitation; along with these horrible conditions many of the children are malnourished and don’t make it past the fourth grade. 100% of the proceeds made for these schools will directly support them and the mission to provide quality education for these underprivileged children and increase the quality of life and education in the area.
The WHS International club held a fundraiser last month for the Bocas School project and raised $500! This will greatly help the children in Panama. Twenty dollars buys a uniform for a child so they can go to school, fifty dollars will buy a healthy meal a day for one child for a whole year, and one-hundred dollars will pay a teacher’s salary for week. The club raised the money for the Boca school project by selling tickets to a Charlotte Checkers hockey game. They would like to thank the students and faculty who supported the Project by buying and selling tickets, and donating money and of course the Charlotte Checkers. Everyone’s support is greatly appreciated. The club will be donating all fundraising money they make this year to the Boca School Project. Be on the lookout for up and coming events the club will be hosting, and help raise money for Panama!
