FHHS Band Director Receives National Honor
Forest Hills High School band director, Miss Tracy Humphries, was one of five North Carolina band directors voted into membership as the Class of 2012 of the American School Band Directors Association (ASBDA). This is an honor and testament to the amazing work she has done with the band program at Forest Hills.
Founded in 1953, the American School Band Directors Association (ASBDA) is an extremely prestigious national organization for band directors of the highest quality. The primary goal of the ASBDA is to promote the concert band as the focus of an educational curriculum which teaches music as artistic expression.
ASBDA draws together the finest minds and best teachers nationally for the purpose of helping influence the direction and furthering the cause of good music in the nation's public schools. ASBDA membership recognizes a band director’s work as a music educator by other music educators and is therefore an honor reserved for the nation's greatest bandmasters.
Miss Humphries will be officially inducted at the ASBDA National Convention in Asheville, NC in June.
