Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
On March 30th, 31st and April 1st, audiences were brought into "...a world of pure imagination." Parkwood Middle School's Drama Club presented "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" to packed houses each performance.
The cast included over 40 6th, 7th, and 8th graders, who filled the roles of everything from Oompa-Loompas, to old grandparents, to eccentric chocolate factory owners. When asked about their involvement in the production, all students had positive things to say, and were sad when the experience was over.
In charge of the group were Ms. Barbara Pratt (Director), Mr. Daniel Stanford (Musical Director), and Ms. Nicole DePietro (Choreographer). They had been working with the group since December, getting them ready to act, sing, and dance their very best.
They weren't the only teachers involved, however. The production couldn't have happened without the artistic talent of Ms. Diane Howie, or the organizational skills of Mr. Jordan Marmara back stage. Many parents also helped make the show a reality, donating props and costumes, and staying after rehearsals to help build the set.
In the end the hard work of everyone involved paid off, which just goes to show what you can do when you, as Charlie said, "Think Positive!"
