PRMS Students To Perform At All-State Honors Band Concert

Kayla Tomberlin and Lauren McCarthy, will play the clarinet in the All-State Honors Band.

Two of Porter Ridge Middle students, Lauren McCarthy and Kayla Tomberlin are to perform in the All-State Honors Band Concert being held Sunday, May 6. The concert will be at Memorial Hall at UNC Chapel Hill. Both studetnts play the clarinet in the Porter Ridge Middle School band.

Being selected to perform in the All-State Honors Band is no easy task.  In order to be eligible students must first make All-District in their section.  Over 150 students in the state try out for all district.  From these musicians, 20 clarinet players are chosen for All-District.  Musicians who make All-District band can then audition for All-State.

Performing in the All-State Honors Band is the highest honor for an instrumental musician at the middle school level. We are so proud of Kayla and Lauren and know they will represent Porter Ridge Middle well.
