Process of Change: PR Names New Basketball Coach

New men's basketball coach, Jim Rhodes, meets with potential 2012-2013 basketball players.

At 2:30pm on May 3rd, PR’s Men’s Basketball players were invited to the auditorium to meet their new coach. Principal Sam Basden expressed confidence in the “process of change” that allowed this meeting to take place, introducing Jim Rhodes, former head coach at Hickory Grove, as a man of, “fine character, conviction, and willingness to work with young men.”

Rhodes, a former Division 2 player, expressed excitement about the opportunity, stating, “There’s something special about PR kids.” Rhodes went on to outline his coaching philosophy of, “skill development, hard work, dedication,” promising the players he would be asking a lot from them. Rhodes’ goals included developing a sense of family among the players and encouraging them to be “Proud to Wear Purple.”

Rhodes took time to shake every young man’s hand, reinforcing his commitment to “start today” developing a bond and becoming a part of the Porter Ridge family.
