CHS Releases Mission Statement
“Through rigorous academics, integrative technology, expressive arts, and competitive athletics, the mission of Cuthbertson High School is to empower all students to be leaders in a changing global community.â€
With those words, the mission of Cuthbertson High School has been captured. Throughout this first school year, the district’s mission, “Preparing all students to succeed†has guided the schools efforts while the staff, students, and community went through a thorough process to identify our core beliefs and our goals for our learning community.
The process for drafting the school mission statement began with teachers answering focus questions where they defined the core values and mission of our school as a community. These responses were collected and then shared with the staff at a faculty meeting. Staff representatives then met to draft a school mission statement that represents the school’s values and mission. Once the draft was written, it was shared with the PTSO, the Booster Club, the school’s Leadership Team and the Site-based Management Team (SbMT). The initial draft was edited to reflect the feedback received from each group. Upon the recommendation of the SbMT, the Mission Statement was approved and adopted by the Cuthbertson High School staff.
The school is excited to publish a mission statement that captures the qualities we hold in high regard at Cuthbertson High School. It is affirming that the mission statement parallels the school crest which was created separately and also highlights the school’s focus on academics first, technology, the arts, and athletics. The mission also highlights the district and school focus on globalization. The photo of the crest was taken in our school Media Center. The crest was hand painted by CHS parent Lori Hofmeister.
