Don’t let North Carolina children go hungry this summer!
In North Carolina, only about one out of 13 children, who are eligible for free or reduced-price school meals during the school year, will get the food they need this summer.
When school is out, thousands of children must search for nutritious meals – and too often these meals cannot be found at home.
USDA’s Summer Food Service Program and Seamless Summer Option help bridge the gap by providing FREE food to children at park and recreation areas, boys and girls clubs, YMCA, YWCA, and other sites in the community during the summer.
Union County Public Schools Child Nutrition will provide 300 lunch meals at Monroe Middle cafeteria for anyone 18 years or younger. Meals are provided on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Lunch meals are available Monday through Thursday, beginning June 11, from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. No meals will be available July 2 through July 5. Last day for meals is July 12. For information, call the Child Nutrition Office at 704-296-3000.
