Porter Ridge Celebrates Sixth Commencement Ceremony

Graduate Victoria Grose shows off her new diploma.

Families, friends, and for the last time, the Class of 2012, gathered to celebrate the Sixth Annual Porter Ridge High School Commencement ceremony on Saturday, June 9th . Held at the Cabarrus Arena at 4 pm, three hundred and fifty-eight students walked across the stage to receive their high school diplomas joining the proud ranks of previous alumni of Porter Ridge High School.

The ceremony began with the traditional processional of the graduates to the sound of “Pomp and Circumstance” played by the Band of Pirates. After the Presentation of Colors by the ROTC, the pledge of allegiance led by Paige Hubbard, and a rousing rendition of the National Anthem by Kathryn Callahan, Principal Sam Basden addressed the graduates and their guests to welcome them to this special ceremony. Graduates were inspired by the words of Senior Class President William Turner and Commencement Speaker Taylor Quinn.

Following the Commencement Address, Mr. Basden began conferring diplomas to each of the three hundred and fifth-eight new graduates. From A to Z, Adams to Zalewski, each graduate walked across the stage to receive a handshake, congratulations, and crossed the threshold into adulthood.
