CHS Graduates Class of 2012

Graduation caps fly as the Class of 2012 celebrates their graduation announcement.

Cuthbertson High School graduated its second class in a ceremony held at The Pointe in Fort Mill on June 9, 2012. The South Charlotte Cadet Squadron 800 of the Civil Air Patrol presented the colors. Student Body Vice President Hanna Sjoberg gave the opening remarks. “Years from now,” she said, “we will fondly look back on the lifelong friendships that we have made along with the accomplishments and the impact that we have had on this school in such a short period of time.”

Claire Corbitt, the CHS National Honor Society President, welcomed the honored guests. Among them were Board of Education member Mrs. Marce Savage, Superintendent Dr. Ed Davis, Cuthbertson Middle School Principal Dr. Laurel Healy, New Town Elementary Principal Mrs. Priscilla Davis, Kensington Elementary Principal Dr. Rachel Clarke, the 2011-2012 CHS Teacher of the Year Mrs. Sarah Stott, and CHS Assistant Principals Mr. Randy Boob and Ms. Kim Warr.

Senior Class President Lexie Correa challenged the class to look toward their future. “Set a goal right now - whether it is to visit every country in the world or simply be able to support your family – and accomplish it. As Babe Ruth said, ‘Never let the fear of striking out keep you from playing the game.’”

Student Body President Elena Wandzilak introduced speaker Principal Rob Jackson. She said, “The speaker today is someone who has truly epitomized the support system we find in our education. He has been with our class since our first steps in Cuthbertson’s halls, as a leader, a mentor, and a friend, and I am confident that he will continue being a part of our future.”

“You’ve spent three years teaching me what it means to be passionate about school – what it means to be truly blue and gold through and through,” Jackson said. “You have been our leaders. You have made Cuthbertson High School. I’m so proud to be able to say I’m a part of your family. As you approach life, take that with you. Value people.”

Jackson went on to say, “If you take with you the quest for excellence in everything, I promise you, you will be successful in anything life throws your way. I couldn’t be prouder to say that this is my final commencement ceremony as Principal, that it’s with you.”

Congratulations, Class of 2012!
